Childhood shenanigans

Ocean Park is one of our favourite places to visit. When we first met, it was the time we started to reach the height where we could go on the rides. We were fearless. We wanted to try EVERYTHING. Let's see how we do 15 years later.

Because this is re-living our childhood, we tried to dress as alike as we would when we were younger. And we were acting silly and all, but that's just the usual us. Here we will have a closer look of our outfit today!

J is wearing a T-shirt from Armani Exchange (not Emporio Armarni as she mistakenly stated in the video) and booty shorts. Of course she has her all time favourite keds on. She's ready to take her day on at Ocean Park!

T has on a T-shirt that her boyfriend bought her when they went shopping in Mong Kok. She loves it cause it reminds her of her dog when she was younger. Her shorts are from Cotton On, which is featured previously in It's a girl thing. T's juicy jacket is made of terrycloth, which makes it very convenient for a day out. Her skull shoes are from Steve Madden.

T & J are wearing matching jewelleries today, just like how when you were young, you and your best friend would want to have the same thing. Today their accessories, the cross rings, mini skull and mini clover come from Style By Essenza. T's friendship bracelets are handmade by her other very talented best friend, V, as a birthday gift.

Now lets begin our day at Ocean Park!

Into the aquarium we go..... :)

Even though I was busy capturing J's crazyness, I still managed to take some snapshots of the beautiful sea creatures and adorable animals there have in the Ocean Park Hong Kong.

The animals doing their thing, like a boss.

If you observe closely, you would see that the penguins are actually undercover, Government agents on a secret mission to deliver and execute 'O.C' - Operation Cute.

After each of the visits with the lovely animals, OF COURSE we mucked around in the gift stores.

Venturing into the unknown of seaweed land...

and abducting adorable animals...

Most of all, we left our mark (erasable, though), made a wish and went back to Old Hong Kong in Ocean Park as well!

Ten years down the line, we return to a place where all our childhood memories are embedded. It is almost as if, our child souls have taken over for the period we were there - we felt so carefree, happy and ever-so-slightly idiotic.

Nothing screams 'Good ole' times!' like this trip back to Ocean Park.

Hope you enjoyed joining us in our trip back to childhood! How about you? What was the highlight of your childhood? Did you have a best friend where you guys planned to wear matching outfits as well? Do let us know - we would like to hear from you!

Lace love

In this cycle, there are a lot of birthdays of people I know coming up, including my own :). So we are going to be doing some birthday ideas!

There are going to be a few changes starting from this cycle. Our dear K has to leave us, but there is still J and myself to keep this going! Now because we have K's slot open, we are going to have a week where we feature designs that are inspired by the cycle! If you have some good designs that you want us to feature on the blog, you can email it to us on dashion.hime@gmail.com or hashtag us on instagram for #dashionhime! You can also see some of our own!

Now to begin with, to my dear childhood buddy, Julian,

a big fat HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

I love birthday parties, it's a chance to dress up, get together and have fun with your friends. Birthday parties are always way more fun with your closest friends.  Now put on a mask with your best friend and you will do crazy things.

"We all have a social mask, right? We put it on, we go out, put our best foot forward, our best image.  But behind that social mask is a personal truth , what we really, really believe about who we are and what were capable of." - Phil McGraw

I agree with Phil McGraw, we all act a certain way when we are with people. Only a few people in our lives can really see us be ourselves at all times and usually those are the people who love and care about you the most.

J has been one of my best friends since I was eight, when I'm with her I definitely strip away my social mask. Only when you are with people who you are very comfortable with, you can be yourself completely. Even if you are acting like a complete fool, you know they will love you because you are just being you.

Masquerade theme parties are always fun, it adds a sense of mysterious and excitement when everyone is wearing their mask! You can be anyone you want to be, a beautiful stranger.  We are all braver behind a mask because it's like a protection of our identity. We can do things that we never would without a mask.  Hence the previous statement of doing crazy things with your best friend as you know they will prompt you to go futher than you would.

For this idea, I have decided to draw my own lace mask to match a lace outfit. It is quite simple to do and definitely a lot of fun if you enjoy a little bit of art. All I used was a black eyeliner to draw the designs for Me and J. At the end I dabbed some black eye shadow over it to make it look like a see through layer of fabric. For my lips I used the same YSL Rouge Laque in Enchant me to add some colour to the outfit.

I matched it with a lace dress I got when I was in Vancouver this February.  It is from Urban Behavior. In our first blog Passion for Dashion I have mentioned in my short introduction that I love lace because it could be classy, sexy and fun :) The dress that J wore was also featured by me in her blog Wherefore art thou, mon amour?

We are both wearing high heels from Steve Madden. High heels are the best inventions ever. It just elongates your legs and make them look so much more nicer. J's patterned heels were previously featured in Be strong, Juliet .

With this look, you are now ready to attend a masquerade party and have a blast with your best friends! And here's a little sneak peak of how I really am when I am with people I am close with :)

Biglamous

There was once a time when we were eager to grow up so we can wear all those pretty dresses we see celebrities do on TV. I don't know about you, but I have definitely tried my mommy's heels that were way to big for my little feet.

I think it is a misconception that "glamorous" means those night gowns we see celebrities were walking down the big carpet. We can be glamorous anytime, anywhere! With a little effort, we could look like we have spent hours putting our look together. To be an A-class woman, lets remember three As: Accessorize, Adventurous and Attitude.

My outfit here is just a simple white tank top from Cotton On and black studded leggings from Urban Behavior.  This combination is as plain and boring as it could possibly. I look like I could probably sleep comfortably in it too. Now, with our first A, simply accessorizing the outfit would completely change the look.

Accessories work like magic, they are abe to dramatize an outfit. If you do not want to be TOO glamorous, be sure that you pick only one big accessory only. Here I have chosen to use a big gold necklace and a thin red and gold belt.

My second A is to be Adventurous. All glamorous outfits have some kind of BOLD element to it. I have chosen a jacket that has leather sleeves to make my outfit more interesting.  Together with the combination of all the accessories, I have created my glam outfit.

Finally our last A: attitude. What we wear changes how we feel about ourselves, which affects how we carry ourselves and in return how people see us.  If you are confident in what you are wearing, it will show through attitude.

It is a girl's nature to want to look their best.  Dressing up makes us feel more confident about ourselves and actually end up having a better day! When I first went away for university, I was homesick and depressed. I started slacking and wearing the most comfortable things only and begin feeling like a bum. My mother's wise words to me was:
"Put some make up on, dress up a little. You will feel better."
Lesson learnt! You dress like a bum, you feel like a bum and you end up acting like a bum.  So girls, if you or any of your girlfriends are depressed, try having a few friends over and do a makeover, even if you don't have anywhere to go. It's fun to dressup with your friends, put makeup on each other and do silly things once in a while.

If you have time and you want to add dynamics to the outfit, you could curl your hair. I have chosen loose curls for a more sophisticated and fun look. Now you are ready to show the world your glam look!

Let's recap on my three As:

Accessories: Pick one big accessory for the outfit for a glamorous but not over the top look. Gold necklace from Forever 21, Thin red and gold waist belt from Forever 21, Agnes B handbag,

Adventurous:  Be BOLD! Black leather sleeve jacket from Danier, studded leggings from Urban Behavior and no brand studded flats.

Attitude:  Stand back straight, be proud of who you are!

That's it for this week! Show us what you have put together to glam up your simple outfit! Hashtag us #dashionhime on instagram, follow us for updates :)
